You’ve heard the saying “abs are made in the kitchen” but seriously, who has time to spend in the kitchen when you’ve got a jam-packed schedule of work, kids, after-school activities and well...forget about finding time for yourself!
When it’s 2:30 in the afternoon and you’re starving because you realize that you haven’t eaten a thing all day, the easiest thing to do is grab some fast food. And after you’ve worked all day, who wouldn’t rather pick up take-out than scavenge their cabinets for something healthy to cook that your kids will actually eat?
We’ve all done it.
But day-in and day-out of eating processed and unhealthy foods leaves you noticing the unwelcome difference in your waistline.
I know where you are. I’ve been there.
Just a few short years ago, I was working 50-60 hours per week as an accountant. And even after all of those hours at the office, figuring out what to make for dinner was still one of the most stressful parts of my day.
The effects of grabbing a donut and coffee on my way to work and either eating out or bringing a Lean Cuisine to work on the daily were showing and I really didn’t like the way I felt about myself.
It was then I realized it was time to make a change.
I had to learn to do things differently, not only for myself, but for my girls.
I so desperately wanted them to grow up having a healthy relationship with food, but all they were seeing was how stressful it was for me to try to put healthy food on the table for our family each day. I was in a losing battle against myself and I knew that the only person who could change things for my family was me.
